Kasturbai Mohandas Gandhi (listen ⓘ, born Kasturbai Gokuldas Kapadia; 11 April 1869 – 22 February 1944) was an Indian political activist who was involved in the Indian independence movement during British India.

Kasturba opened her house to the nation and the freedom struggle. She fasted when Gandhi was in prison, gave up on things she liked – her jewellery, good food, and even her religious beliefs. In 1906, when Gandhi took a vow of chastity, she recognised his choice and made her peace with it.
Kasturba Gandhi, known affectionately as Ba, was married to Mohandas Gandhi in 1882 when she was but thirteen years old. When Gandhi left for London in 1888, she did not accompany him: she was already a mother, since Harilal had been born earlier that year.
