David Copperfield is a two-part BBC television drama adaptation of Charles Dickens's 1850 novel of the same name, written by Adrian Hodges. The first part was shown on Christmas Day 1999 and the second part the following day.
David's happy childhood days in the village of Blunderstone with his mother, Clara (Emilia Fox), and at Great Yarmouth with their servant, Peggotty (Pauline Quirke) and her family, are brought to an end by the marriage of Clara to high-minded but brutal Edward Murdstone (Trevor Eve).
Follow David Copperfield from birth to manhood as he meets an extraordinary range of sinister and benevolent characters. From Pegotty, the devoted servant, to the sadistic Mr Murdstone, unctuous Uriah Heap and eternal optimist Mr Micawber.
