Case Blue (German: Fall Blau) was the Wehrmacht 's plan for the 1942 strategic summer offensive in southern Russia between 28 June and 24 November 1942, during World War II.

14 de jul. de 2022 · The failure of Barbarossa to knock Russia out of the war led Hitler to set the capture of the Caucasian oilfields as the overriding priority for 1942. In order to meet this objective, German planners devised Fall Blau (‘Case Blue’), a three-stage offensive:

The German Army on the Eastern Front opened Case Blue when the weather improved to allow mechanized campaigning. Hitler instructed his generals to swiftly move south toward the oil fields of the Caucasus.
Operation Braunschweig (Brunswick), named after Braunschweig, was the German summer offensive that began on 28 June 1942. The operation was initially named Fall Blau (Case Blue), which is the common name used for the whole offensive.
