The current head of government of the State of Bavaria is Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder, MdL. He was first sworn in as Bavarian Premier on 16 March 2018 and again on 06 November 2018 and on 31 October 2023.
The Bavarian State Government is the supreme executive authority of the state. It consists of the Minister-President of Bavaria and up to 17 state ministers and state secretaries. The Minister-President as head of government is elected for a period of five years by the Landtag.
