    is a 2026 American computer-animated comedy film directed by Tony Leondis and written by Leondis, Lorne Cameron, Rashida Jones, and Will McCormack. Produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, it is based on emoji faces, smileys, and graphics used in electronic messages and the sequel to The Emoji Movie (2017). T.J. Miller, James Corden, Anna Faris, Maya Rudolph, Steven Wright, Jennifer Coolidge, Patrick Stewart, Sean Hayes, Sofía Vergara, Christina Aguilera, Jake T. Austin, and Tati Gabrielle reprise their roles from the first film, all joined by Gary Oldman, Kristen Chenoweth, Eugenio Derbez, H. Jon Benjamin, Randall Park, Britney Spears, Nathan Lane, and Derek Smith. Taking place about two months after the events of the first film, the story follows Gene Meh and his emoji friends going through a multi-verse of digital dimensions following the “floor” of their user Alex’s cellphone screen getting cracked by a malicious shape-shifting virus, to which they then recruit several other emojis and digital creatures to stop the virus from using his deadly, disease-ridden powers to infect all cellphones, laptops, and other electrical appliances around the world.

It was a commercial success, grossing over $212 million worldwide, but received generally negative reviews from critics, who considered it “unnecessary” and “a waste of money” and criticized the script, humor, tone, and product placement, although some considered it an improvement over its predecessor. It was also nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel. A third film is in development.
