This condition presents with exertional dyspnoea with or without pleuritic chest pain. It is rare, affecting approximately 1% of patients with SLE, and can occur at any point in the disease.

In rare cases, SLE patients present a syndrome characterized by dyspnea, chest pain and abnormalities in pulmonary function testing, although there may be no evidence of major parenchymal lung disease on computerized tomography scans. This condition has come to be known as shrinking lung syndrome.

Shrinking lung syndrome (SLS) is a rare and poorly understood pulmonary complication of SLE. Here we present a case of SLS in a patient with SLE. CASE PRESENTATION: A 27-year-old male was diagnosed with SLE at age of 19 after developing polyarthralgia, lymphadenopathy and facial skin rash.
