The Centre for the Study of the History of Political Thought at Queen Mary, University of London was established in 2007. The Centre aims to consider how new scholarship and interdisciplinary approaches have shaped our understanding and assessment of the history of political thought and the broader field of intellectual history.

Cambridge Texts in the History of Political Thought is now firmly estab-lished as the major student textbook series in political theory. It aims to make available to students all the most important texts in the history of western political thought, from ancient Greece to the early twentieth century.
Beginning with some of the earliest examples of political theorising in the ancient world, and ending in the twentieth century, this module introduces students to some of the most important thinkers and debates in the history of political thought.
