Wikipedia's first true logo was an image originally submitted by Bjørn Smestad – under the username Bjornsm – for a Nupedia logo competition which took place in 2000. It was used provisionally as Wikipedia's logo until the end of 2001.
The current Wikipedia logo, "v2", was unveiled in May 2010. Wikipedia had a series of logos in its history before arriving at the current puzzle logo.

This page was used for discussions about the current Wikipedia logo, as well as fixing the errors on the logo and the characters which go on the hidden portions of the logo as well as the two puzzle pieces on bottom.
