Sonobe (園部町, Sonobe-chō) was a town located in Funai District, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. The town of Sonobe was established with the creation of the modern municipalities system on April 1, 1889. Sonobe merged with the neighboring towns of Hiyoshi, and Yagi (all from Funai District ), and the town of Miyama (from Kitakuwada District) to form the city of Nantan on January 1, 2006.
History. The origin of the Sonobe module is unknown. Two possible creators are Toshie Takahama and Mitsunobu Sonobe, who published several books together and both members of Sosaku Origami Group 67.
Sonobe Domain (園部藩, Sonobe-han) was a feudal domain under the Tokugawa shogunate of Edo period Japan, located in Tanba Province in what is now the central portion of modern-day Kyoto Prefecture.
