George Eden, earl of Auckland (born Aug. 25, 1784, Eden Farm, near Beckenham, Kent, Eng.—died Jan. 1, 1849, The Grange, near Alresford, Hampshire) was the governor-general of India from 1836 to 1842, when he was recalled after his participation in British setbacks in Afghanistan.
