  1. Campus East is a 287 acres (116 ha) site which is part of the University of York. The campus is situated around a 35 acres (14 ha) lake mirroring the design of Campus West. The site currently contains five colleges (Langwith, Goodricke, Constantine, Anne Lister, and David Kato) along with social hubs and academic departments.

    Representation

    The day-to-day running of the colleges is managed by an elected committee of staff and student members chaired by the college's Senior College Fellow.     Social activities

    The colleges are responsible for many of the social activities of their members, and each JCRC/CSAC organises the 'Fresher's Week' activities for its college. Another central role is the appointment of STYCs (an abbreviation for Second and Third Year Contacts) who are returning students who are responsible for looking after new first years. It’s bigger and it’s where most campus events happen. I thought I would be on Campus West too, until I found out that Campus East is now my base. In the beginning I thought I would struggle.

  5. Though plans for a university in York first appeared as early as 1617, it would be over three centuries before they came to fruition. In 1960, permission was finally granted for the University of York to be built, marking the beginning of our journey.
