  2. Born at Carlton Gardens, London, Jocelyn was the eldest son and heir apparent of Robert Jocelyn, 3rd Earl of Roden, and the Hon. Maria Frances Catherine, daughter of Thomas Stapleton, 12th Baron le Despencer.
