The Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan Museum of Art has appointed Max Hollein as Chief Executive Officer effective July 1, 2023. Hollein has been the Director of The Met since 2018, and has overseen a number of exhibitions, initiatives, and projects that broaden the Museum's engagement with art and history.
Mr. Hollein currently leads the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. After beginning his career at the Guggenheim Museum, New York, he was Director and CEO of three of Germany’s most prestigious art institutions, including the Städel Museum, Frankfurt.
