Leland James Gillette (October 30, 1912 – August 20, 1981), known professionally as Lee Gillette, was an American A&R director, record producer and musician. Biography. Born in Indianapolis, Gillette was raised in Peoria, Illinois, and then Chicago in the 1920s.
By this time producer Lee Gillette worked well in concert with Kenton to create a balanced set of recordings that were both commercially viable and cutting edge musically. Arguably the most "swinging" band Kenton was to field came when legendary drummer Mel Lewis joined the orchestra in 1954.

Lee Gillett is a British musician who has been active musically for over 40 years both as a member of duos and bands and more recently also as a solo artist. In 2017/2018 he appeared at the Upton Blues Festival as well as the Ely Folk Festival, and currently plays in pubs, clubs and events in the Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk area mainly.
