Sir Laurence Nunns Guillemard GCMG KCB (7 June 1862 – 13 December 1951) was a British civil servant who served as high commissioner in Malaya when it was under the British Empire.

The Johore Sultan, Sultan Ibrahim, the newly appointed Governor of Straits Settlements and High Commissioner of the FMS, Sir Laurence Guillemard, his wife among other invited guests graced the ceremony on board Sea Belle, a sea yacht, in the middle of the Straits.
Sir Laurence Nunns Guillemard (b. 1862 – d. 1951, London, England) was the only Governor of the Straits Settlements who had no previous experience as head of any other colony in the British Empire. 1 His governorship was associated with several notable building projects which still stand today.

Personal life. On 15 April 1896, Clifford married Minna à Beckett, the only child of Gilbert Arthur à Beckett. Before her death on 14 January 1907, they had one son and two daughters: [1] Hugh Gilbert Francis Clifford (1897–1916), who was killed on 1 July 1916, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, aged 19.
On 10 October 1919, Singapore was informed of the identity of its new governor, Laurence Nunns Guillemard, via telegram from London. [1] Guillemard arrived on 3 February the following year to assume his post, taking over the leadership of the Straits Settlements and Malaya from Arthur Henderson Young who had retired in August 1919.
