Lake Louise is a hamlet within Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. Named after Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll, it lies in Alberta's Rockies on the Bow River, 3 km (1.9 mi) northeast of the lake that shares its name.

Lake Louise, 2.4 km long, elevation 1731 m, is located in Banff National Park in southwestern Alberta. Lake Louise's outlet is a creek flowing into the Bow River. The Stoney called it Ho-run-num-nay meaning "lake of the little fishes" and it was a Stoney guide who took Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) workman Tom Wilson to the site in 1882.
Founded in 1890 as Laggan Station, Lake Louise was once a wild outpost at the end of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Today this hamlet, lake and the surrounding area offer some of the finest hiking, skiing and site-seeing in the world.
