Honora was born about 1675 at Portumna Castle, County Galway. She was the youngest child of William Burke and his second wife, Helen MacCarty. Her father was William Burke, 7th Earl of Clanricarde. The Burkes (originally De Burgh) were an Old English family long-established in Connacht.
His mother was Lady Honora Burke (1675–1698), second daughter of William Burke, (d. 1687), the seventh Earl of Clanricarde and widow of the Irish Jacobite nobleman Patrick Sarsfield, 1st Earl of Lucan.
Early life. FitzJames was born at Moulins in France before his father's accession to the throne, and was brought up in France as a Catholic. He was the son of James and his mistress Arabella Churchill, [1] sister of the English captain general and statesman John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough.
Honora Burke. Honora Burke became Honora FitzJames, Duchess of Berwick on Tweed, married Patrick Sarsfield and went into French exile where he followed her soon afterwards. After his death at the Battle of Landen, she married James FitzJames, 1st Duke of Berwick, an illegitimate son of James II.
Honora Burke (c.1535-aft. 1615) was the daughter of John Burke of Clogheroka, Galway. She married Ulick Bourke, 3rd Earl of Clanricarde, son of Richard Bourke, 2nd Earl of Clanricarde and Margaret O'Brien, on 25 November 1564 at Anthenry, County Galway, Ireland.
