Frederik IX (Danish: Christian Frederik Franz Michael Carl Valdemar Georg; 11 March 1899 – 14 January 1972) was King of Denmark from 1947 to 1972. [3] Born into the House of Glücksburg , Frederik was the elder son of King Christian X and Queen Alexandrine .

Frederik X (Frederik André Henrik Christian; [b] born 26 May 1968) is King of Denmark. He acceded to the throne following his mother's abdication on 14 January 2024. [4] [5] Frederik is the elder son of Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik.
Frederik was the king of Denmark (1947–72) who gave encouragement to the Danish resistance movement against the German occupation during World War II and, along with his father, Christian X, was imprisoned by the Germans (1943–45).

Frederik IX was King of Denmark 1947–1972. In 1935 he married Princess Ingrid of Sweden, daughter of the then Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf (later King Gustaf VI Adolf) and Crown Princess Margaretha. They had three daughters, Margarethe, Benedikte and Anne-Marie. Frederik IX of Denmark died in 1972.
Frederik IX was the first Danish king to definitively waive political influence. He to a large degree defined the role of the modern monarch in Denmark, and was probably the best-loved king Denmark has ever had.
