Both were married at a young age to husbands that were far older, and both became widows whilst still in the early twenties.
He married Elizabeth FitzHugh, daughter of the fourth Baron FitzHugh. They had several children, including: Elizabeth (died 1490) who married firstly Thomas Scrope, 5th Baron Scrope of Masham, and secondly, Sir Gilbert Talbot of Grafton, KG (died 1517/18). Her second husband was the lord of the manor of Grafton Manor in Worcestershire.

Elizabeth FitzHugh, a lady-in-waiting to queen consort Margaret of Anjou, who married twice; firstly on 10 December 1427 to Sir Ralph Gray of Chillingham (d.17 March 1442/3) and secondly, in 1445, to Sir Edmund Montfort. Her only issue was by her first husband. Maud FitzHugh, wife of Sir William Eure of Witton.
