Coxhoe Local History Group. “Our aim is to explore and preserve the history of our village for present and future generations to enjoy”. Coxhoe has a rich and diverse heritage. Its early medieval village lay on the slopes below a manor house. Later the village developed into a small rural community around a turnpike road.
The constituency corresponds to the former City of Durham local government district and as such includes a number of surrounding villages and suburbs as well as Durham itself, the largest of these are Brandon, Coxhoe, Bowburn, Framwellgate Moor, Sherburn and Ushaw Moor.
