Chanda Dancy (born Chanda Yvette Dancy; November 14, 1978) is an American film composer, violinist, keyboardist, and singer. The founder and president of CYD Music, Dancy is an artist and composer for film and other multimedia. She is also a member of the rock band Modern Time Machines.
An alumnus of the USC Film Scoring Program, and the Sundance Composers Lab, Chanda Dancy is both an accomplished film and television composer with over 19 years of experience and an emerging classical concert composer. Arts Boston named her one of “ 10 Contemporary Black Composers You Should Know ”.

Biography. Native Texan, Chanda Dancy, started composing orchestral works at the age of 12. She has been described as a “phenomenal composer” (Ted Chung, Zacuto: Featured Filmmakers) and “quickly gaining recognition as a foremost black American contemporary composer.” (Anthony Parnther, Conductor, San Bernardino Symphony).
We recorded the score in Prague over 8 days, and mixed in about 2 weeks. A huge shout out to Paul, my assistants on the project Alexandra Kalinowski and Shawn Chen, my mixer Alvin Wee and orchestrators Zuzana Michlerova, Adam Klemens, Bernhard Eder, Ana Kasrashvili, and David Federman.
