Christ Church, formally titled "The Dean and Chapter of the Cathedral Church of Christ in Oxford of the Foundation of King Henry the Eighth", [1] is the only academic institution in the world which is also a cathedral, the seat ( cathedra) of the Bishop of Oxford.

Christ Church, en latin Ædes Christi (c'est-à-dire la maison ou l' église du Christ) 1 est l'un des collèges les plus grands et plus riches de l' université d'Oxford au Royaume-Uni. Il a été bâti en 1524 par le cardinal Wolsey, puis en 1532 par Henri VIII après la disgrâce de Wolsey.
Christ Church was the thirteenth of the present Oxford colleges to be founded. The foundation was a complicated process and took, in effect, 21 years to complete. In 1524, Cardinal Thomas Wolsey obtained a bull from the Pope for the dissolution of the Augustinian St Frideswide’s priory which occupied this south-east quadrant of the city.
