Hawarden (/ ˈ h ɑːr d ən / ⓘ; Welsh: Penarlâg) is a village and community in Flintshire, Wales. It is part of the Deeside conurbation on the Wales-England border and is home to Hawarden Castle.

Not far from the River Dee, close to the Cheshire border with England, stands the pretty village of Hawarden. Historical waters, though today seeming still and calm, run deep and ominous here. It is believed that Hawarden was founded with the arrival of St Deiniol sometime in the 6th century, and his establishment of a church.

Hawarden is a small town in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island. It is located near Waikari , just off State Highway 7 . From 15 December 1884 until 15 January 1978, the town was served by the Waiau Branch , a branch line railway that at one stage was planned to become the Main North Line to Nelson and Blenheim . [3]
