Karl Barry Sharpless (Filadélfia, 28 de abril de 1941) é um químico estadunidense. Doutorou-se em química em 1968 na Universidade Stanford. Desde 1990 é professor de química no Scripps Research Institute de La Jolla (Estados Unidos). Recebeu o Nobel de Química de 2001, por catalisar moléculas quirais por oxidação.
