Arthur Leonard Schawlow (Mount Vernon, 5 de maio de 1921 — Palo Alto, 28 de abril de 1999) foi um físico estadunidense.
Arthur Leonard Schawlow (May 5, 1921 – April 28, 1999) was an American physicist who, along with Charles Townes, developed the theoretical basis for laser science. His central insight was the use of two mirrors as the resonant cavity to take maser action from microwaves to visible wavelengths.
From 1951 to 1961, I was a physicist at Bell Telephone Laboratories. There my research was mostly on superconductivity, with some studies of nuclear quadrupole resonance. On weekends I worked with Charles Townes on our book Microwave Spectroscopy, which had been started while I was at Columbia and was published in 1955.

Arthur Leonard Schawlow foi um físico americano que compartilhou (com Nicolaas Bloembergen e Kai Siegbahn) o Prêmio Nobel de Física de 1981 por seu trabalho no desenvolvimento do laser e na espectroscopia a laser.
