Balthasar Hubmaier (1480 – 10 March 1528; Latin: Pacimontanus) was an influential German Anabaptist leader. He was one of the most well-known and respected Anabaptist theologians of the Reformation .
Balthasar Hubmaier, early German Reformation figure and leader of the Anabaptist movement, which advocated for adult baptism. Although Hubmaier represented the moderate strain of the Anabaptist movement, he was ultimately captured and executed as a heretic at Vienna.
Hubmaier was a student of Eck, the infamous Roman Catholic theologian, who debated Martin Luther in Leipzig. Soon his fame as a pulpit orator grew, and he was called to Regensburg as chief pastor in the cathedral.
