William Goh Seng Chye [a] (born 25 June 1957) is a Singaporean prelate of the Catholic Church who has been serving as the fourth Archbishop of Singapore since 2013. He was made a cardinal by Pope Francis on 27 August 2022.
Since 2005, he has held the role of rector of Singapore Major Seminary. He has also held the following positions: member of the Presbyteral Senate, member of the College of Consultors, member of the Diocesan Council for Vocational Promotion, and spiritual director of the Archdiocesan Catholic Center for Spirituality.
On Aug. 27, 2022, Singapore will have its first Cardinal. Cardinal-elect William Goh says he never expected nor sought it, and reflects on the expectations placed on him as he serves the Catholics in one of Asia’s smallest and richest countries, often portrayed as an international business hub.
