Alexander Andrew Penman Rowley (born 30 November 1963) is a Scottish politician who served as Deputy Leader of the Scottish Labour Party from 2015 to 2017 and acting leader of the party from August to November 2017.
Alex Rowley is a current and previous MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife (Region) and Cowdenbeath (Constituency). He is a member of the Scottish Parliament, the Finance and Public Administration Committee, and the Cross-party Group on Rail.
The Scottish Government suffered an embarrassing defeat over their plans to reintroduce peak fares on ScotRail services as the Scottish Parliament supported a motion I amended calling for the decision to be reversed. I was successful in passing my amendment by 64 votes to 62.

In a debate on improving Scotland’s roads in the Scottish parliament I accused the SNP government of causing suffering to drivers, cyclists and pedestrians over the conditions of roads across the country due to chronic underfunding of local authorities.
15 de nov. de 2017 · Interim Scottish Labour leader Alex Rowley has stepped down and been suspended from the party after claims about his conduct emerged. The MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife took over as interim leader from Kezia Dugdale after she unexpectedly quit on 29 August.
