  1. Field Marshal Sir Alexander George Woodford, GCB, KCMG (15 June 1782 – 26 August 1870), was a British Army officer. After taking part in the Anglo-Russian invasion of Holland, he served in most of the battles of the Napoleonic Wars.

  3. Upon the Duke of Wellington's specific orders, Woodford was appointed senior officer in the defense of Hougomont. After Napoleon's final defeat at Waterloo, Woodford spent three years with the Allied forces occupying France. Promoted to Major-General in 1825. Served as Acting-Governor of Malta from 1826 to 1827.
