Count Nikolay Pavlovich Ignatyev (historical spelling: Nicolai Ignatieff; Russian: Граф Никола́й Па́влович Игна́тьев; 29 January [O.S. 17 January] 1832 – 3 July [O.S. 20 June] 1908), a Russian statesman and diplomat, became best known for his aggressive expansionism in support of Russian imperialism.

Nikolai Ignatiev. Nikolay Pavlovich, Count Ignatyev was a pan-Slavist diplomat and statesman who played a major role in the administration of Russia’s foreign policy in Asia under Tsar Alexander II (reigned 1855–81). Having become an officer in the Russian Guards at 17, Ignatyev began his diplomatic career in 1856.
