Edgar Gerhard Julius Oscar Ludwig von Westphalen (26 March 1819 – 30 September 1890) was a German writer and Communist politician, who was also a long-time friend and brother-in-law of Karl Marx. He was the son of Prussian baron Ludwig von Westphalen and his second wife Caroline Heubel.

Along with Jenny and her brother Edgar von Westphalen (who was a year older than Karl, a friend of his at Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium, and later a dedicated Communist), the baron and the young Karl discussed the fate of European politics.
