Jean-Antoine Carrel (1829 – August 1891) was an Italian mountain climber and guide. He had made climbs with Edward Whymper and was his rival when he attempted to climb the Matterhorn for the first time.

Jean-Antoine Carrel, né le 16 janvier 1829 à Valtournenche, en Vallée d'Aoste, mort le 26 août 1891, est un guide de montagne italien, surnommé « le bersaglier », en raison de sa participation aux trois guerres d’indépendance italiennes (1848-1866).
Jean-Antoine Carrel (getauft 17. Januar 1829 in Valtournenche; † 26. August 1890 am Matterhorn) war ein italienischer Bergführer. Bekannt geworden ist er durch die erste Besteigung des Matterhorns am 17. Juli 1865 von der italienischen Seite aus und die Erstbesteigung des Chimborazo 1880.
