Yoshio Taniguchi (谷口 吉生, Taniguchi Yoshio; born 1937) is a Japanese architect best known for his redesign of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, which was reopened November 20, 2004. Critics have emphasized Taniguchi's fusion of traditional Japanese and Modernist aesthetics.
Yoshirō Taniguchi (谷口 吉郎, Taniguchi Yoshirō, 24 June 1904 – 2 February 1979) was a Japanese architect. He was born in the city of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. He was a graduate of Tokyo University Department of Architecture and professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology from 1929–1965.
Taniguchi’s father, Yoshiro Taniguchi, was a contemporary of Kunio Maekawa and a respected architect in his own right. Although little known abroad, Yoshiro Taniguchi was entrusted with several commissions on behalf of Japan’s royal family, and he also designed notable religious and commemorative structures.
