Vere Brabazon Ponsonby, 9th Earl of Bessborough, GCMG, KStJ, PC (27 October 1880 – 10 March 1956), was an Anglo-Irish businessman and politician who served as Governor General of Canada, the fourteenth since Canadian Confederation.

Born Vere Brabazon Ponsonby, on October 27th 1880, he received his education at Harrow and Trinity College, Cambridge. Though trained for the legal profession and a member of the Bar, he chose politics as a career at 26, but suffered a number of defeats.
