  1. Ambrose Dudley, 3rd Earl of Warwick, KG (c. 1530 [1] – 21 February 1590) was an English nobleman and general, and an elder brother of Queen Elizabeth I's favourite, Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester.

  2. He was the son of John Dudley, Earl of Warwick, Duke of Northumberland, and Protector of England during the reign of Edward VI, and Lady Jane Guildford. Ambrose was imprisoned with his brothers in the Tower of London consequent on the attempt of his father to place Lady Jane Grey on the throne.

  5. On this day in history, 21st February 1590, Ambrose Dudley, 3rd Earl of Warwick, Master of the Ordnance, Privy Councillor and fourth son of John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland, died at Bedford House on the Strand.
