Brigadier Bernard Edward Fergusson, Baron Ballantrae, KT, GCMG, GCVO, DSO, OBE (6 May 1911 – 28 November 1980) [1] was a British Army officer and military historian. He became the last British-born governor-general of New Zealand .

Fergusson era filho de Sir Charles Fergusson e Lady Alice Marry Boyle.
Brigadier Bernard Fergusson commanded elements of Orde Wingate’s Chindits during long-distance operations in the jungles of Burma. Fergusson, like Wingate, had a fondness for the Near East, and like him, too, had been engaged in intelligence work in Palestine, where they met in August 1937.
