Sir Nicholas Dakin (born 10 July 1955) is a British Labour politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Scunthorpe from 2010 to 2019. He was the Shadow Minister for Schools from 2015 to 2016, Shadow Deputy Leader of the House of Commons in 2015, and an opposition whip from 2011 to 2015 and 2016 to 2019.

About me. Nic Dakin. I grew up in Leicestershire and attended school there before studying at the University of Hull and then King’s University College London completing my undergraduate degree and then my PGCE respectively. I taught English in a school in Hull before I moved to Sweden to also teach English.

Sir Nicholas Dakin, 67, served as MP for Scunthorpe between 2010 and 2019 before losing his seat to current Conservative MP Holly Mumby-Croft.
