Enos Thompson Throop (/ ˈ θ r uː p / THROOP; August 21, 1784 – November 1, 1874) was an American lawyer, politician, and diplomat who was the tenth governor of New York from 1829 to 1832.

ENOS T. THROOP, the twelfth governor of New York, was born in Johnstown, New York on August 21, 1784. His education was limited and attained in the common schools of his native state. However, he went on to study law, and in 1806 was admitted to the bar. After establishing his legal career in Auburn, Throop entered into politics.
A farmer and lawyer from Cayuga County, Enos T. Throop (1784–1874) served as a State Circuit Court judge and as a member of the United States House of Representatives. Assuming the duties of governor following Van Buren’s resignation, Throop served out the term and was re-elected the following year.

Enos Thompson Throop (1784-1874) was an upstate New York lawyer, jurist, and politician who was governor of New York state from 1829-1832. Upon the completion of his term of office, he received appointments as the naval officer for the Port of New York, 1833-1838 and charge d'affaires for the Kingdom of Two Sicilies, 1838-1842.
