The Bedford Incident is a 1965 British-American Cold War film directed by James B. Harris, starring Richard Widmark and Sidney Poitier, and produced by Harris and Widmark. A U.S. destroyer captain (Richard Widmark) pursues a Soviet sub in the North Atlantic, disregarding orders and risking a nuclear confrontation. Sidney Poitier plays a reporter who witnesses the tense standoff and its consequences.
