When one of these rebels is injured he's treated by Sterling Hayden's veterinarian, Gil Hanley, who has no idea who or what he is. The authorities convict Hanley of aiding and abetting the outlaw and he's sent to a virtual death camp of a prison out in the middle of the desert, called Hellgate.
