Syncopation is a 1942 American film from RKO directed by William Dieterle and starring Adolphe Menjou, Jackie Cooper, and Bonita Granville. It is set during the early days of jazz. It is also known as The Band Played On.
With Adolphe Menjou, George Bancroft, Todd Duncan, Connee Boswell. Covering a quarter-century of American 'syncopated" music (Ragtime, Jazz, Swing, Blues, Boogie Woogie) from prior to WWI through prohibition, the stock market crash, the depression and the outbreak of WWII.

The Cohen Film Collection has restored and reissued the 1942 feature, “Syncopation”, and while it is not the classic that the trailer claims, it does get a few things right amidst several factual errors. “Syncopation” tells of several generations of jazz trumpeters between 1906 and 1942.
