is the sixth episode of the tenth season of Columbo and the sixty-first episode overall. It first aired on November 22, 1992 and was directed by Vincent McEveety. In addition to Peter Falk as Lieutenant Columbo, the episode stars Greg Evigan and Tyne Daly, with Frank McRae, Don S. Davis and Michael Gregory in key supporting roles.
In A Bird in the Hand..., a gambling addict desperately turns to his rich uncle for money, then plots to kill him when he refuses. Things go awry when the uncle is killed in a hit-and-run while his gardener is killed by the gambler's original murder plan! The story takes Columbo for several further twists and turns before the case is closed.

•Greg Evigan as Harold McCain, an obsessive gambler and wannabe cowboy who needs money, and fast.He botches his plan to kill his uncooperative uncle for inheritance because he's a grade-A idiot.
•Tyne Daly as Dolores McCain, Big Fred's wife and Harold's aunt-by-marriage, which doesn't seem to stop him from sleeping with her. Obestensibly an unstable alcoholic, Dolores seems to know more about Big Fred's demise than she lets on.
•Steve Forrest as "Big Fred" McCain, Harold's wealthy uncle, the owner of a professional football. He gets hit by a car while jogging, which screws up Harold's plans to blow him sky-high.
•Don S. Davis as Bertie, Big Fred's lawyer.
