Robert Porter Patterson Sr. (February 12, 1891 – January 22, 1952) was an American judge who served as Under Secretary of War under President Franklin D. Roosevelt and U.S. Secretary of War under President Harry S. Truman.
Robert Porter Patterson was a lawyer and a World War I veteran who served as secretary of war from 1945 to 1947. He helped mobilize military supplies for World War II and advocated a strong military presence overseas, but refused the new post of secretary of defense in 1947.
