  3. Charles Robert Ashbee [commonly known as C.R. Ashbee] was born in Iseleworth, Middlesex, England, on 17 May 1863. After studying history at King's College, Camberidge from 1883 to 1886, he was was articled to George Frederick Bodley (1827-1907) of Bodley & Garner in London.
