Harald Ertl (31 August 1948 – 7 April 1982) was an Austrian racing driver and motorsport journalist. He was born in Zell am See and attended the same school as Grand Prix drivers Jochen Rindt, Helmut Marko and Niki Lauda. Ertl sported an 'Imperial'-style moustache and full beard.
Harald Ertl (1948-1982) was a racing driver and motorsport journalist who competed in 28 Formula One races between 1975 and 1980. He drove for various teams, including Hesketh, RAM and ATS, and was involved in the rescue of Niki Lauda after his crash in 1976.

Harald Ertl (* 31. August 1948 in Zell am See; † 7. April 1982 bei Gießen) war ein Automobilrennfahrer, der zwar die österreichische Staatsbürgerschaft besaß, aber ab 1974 mit einer deutschen Fahrerlizenz an seinen Rennen teilnahm.

Austrian born Harald Ertl was basically a motoring journalist with a great passion for racing. So he was considered as being an amateur racer in the first place. Harald's racing days started in 1971 when he got into the Formula V and Super V class, turning to the German F3 championship in 1972.
A motorsport journalist and amateur racer who drove in 28 Grands Prix. Famous for his Inspector Clouseau-style moustache in addition to a beard that he managed to squeeze into his helmet, he was killed in a light aircraft accident in Giessen, Germany. Ertl was born in Zell am See.
