Wayde van Niekerk ( South African English : / ˈweɪd fʌn niːˈkɛərk /, Afrikaans: [fan niˈkɛrk]; born 15 July 1992) is a South African track and field sprinter who competes in the 200 and 400 metres. In the 400 metres, he is the current world and Olympic record holder, having set the record in the Olympic finals.
Wayde van Niekerk (Cidade do Cabo, 15 de julho de 1992) é um velocista campeão olímpico, mundial e recordista mundial sul-africano que compete em provas de 200 metros e 400 metros. Começou em esportes na adolescência usando sua velocidade natural no rugby, na escola primária na Cidade do Cabo, antes de mudar para o atletismo.

Van Niekerk, a former world silver medallist over the 200m, outdipped Simbine in a season’s best time of 20.29 seconds.
