Melvin Cornell Blount (born April 10, 1948) is an American former football cornerback who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL) for fourteen seasons. A five-time Pro Bowler , he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989 .

Mel Blount was a dominant cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1970s, with 57 interceptions, 105 passes defensed, and four Super Bowl rings. He was named the NFL's most valuable defensive player in 1975 and a four-time All-Pro selection.
