Ruth Fuchs (née Gamm, later Hellmann, 14 December 1946 – 20 September 2023) was a German politician and athlete. Fuchs, representing East Germany, was the winner of the women's javelin at the 1972 (Munich) and 1976 (Montreal) Olympic Games. She set the world record for the javelin six times during the 1970s.
Ruth Fuchs (Egeln, 14 de dezembro de 1946 – Jena, 20 de setembro de 2023) foi uma atleta alemã, bicampeã olímpica do lançamento de dardo feminino em Munique 1972 e Montreal 1976, além de quebrar por seis vezes o recorde mundial da prova nos anos 1970, representando a então Alemanha Oriental.
Ruth Fuchs, geb. Gamm (* 14. Dezember 1946 in Egeln; † 20. September 2023 in Jena) war eine deutsche Leichtathletin, die – für die DDR startend – zweifache Olympiasiegerin im Speerwurf wurde. Später war sie für die PDS Volkskammerabgeordnete, Mitglied des Deutschen Bundestags und des Thüringer Landtags .

In addition to her Olympic gold medals, Fuchs was European Champion in both 1974 and 1978. Ruth Fuchs later earned a doctoral degree and was Vice President of the Track & Field Association of East Germany from 1984-1990.
