Erwin Stein (7 November 1885 – 19 July 1958) was an Austrian musician and writer, prominent as a pupil and friend of Schoenberg, with whom he studied between 1906 and 1910.

6 de jan. de 2019 · Erwin Stein was an Austrian musician and writer, prominent as a pupil and friend of Arnold Schoenberg (1874-1951), with whom he studied between 1906 and 1910. He was one of Schoenberg’s principal assistants in organizing the Society for Private Musical Performances.
From 1924 to 1930 he edited Pult und Taktstock, a magazine for conductors, and for some time he was correspondent in Vienna. for the Boston Christian Science Monitor, an. activity he continued in London till the day of his death.

18 de jul. de 2023 · Erwin Stein was an internationally renowned expert in the field of computational mechanics and has received multiple distinctions, including the Cross of Merit first Class of the Lower Saxony Order of Merit awarded in 2011. He received a professorship at the former “Universität Hannover” in 1971.
19 de jan. de 2015 · Mahler’s Fourth Symphony, which is available in two reduced orchestrations: one by Erwin Stein (a pupil of Arnold Schoenberg) made in 1921 and another by Klaus Simon from 2007. The orchestration in the two adaptations is very similar.
Composer, editor and conductor; born 7th November, 1885 in Vienna, died 19 July, 1958 in London. Mostly known for his close association with Arnold Schoenberg, Erwin Stein was born in Vienna, but like many other Jewish musicians, he emigrated to London in 1938.
