Alan Shacklock (born 20 June 1950) is an English musician, composer, arranger and recording producer, who lives and works in Nashville, Tennessee. His 1972 song " The Mexican " as performed by Babe Ruth is considered influential in the early development of b-boying and hip-hop culture.
His creative genius is multifaceted, having produced, performed, composed and arranged orchestral pieces for over 50 major release albums, while working with some of the world's most renowned artists and leading record labels.
Engaging the next generation, Alan Shacklock is a professor and teaches courses in both Audio Technology and Music Business Programs at the highly respected Belmont University in Nashville, TN USA, just off famed Music Row.

16 de mai. de 2011 · Our first real session with Babe Ruth was when we were called “Shacklock”. We recorded a demo at EMI to be considered as an EMI artist. We signed with the ‘Harvest’ EMI label in 1972. With the addition of Janita Haan we changed the name to Babe Ruth.
